God is Your Protector

By September 14, 2023No Comments

Do you feel vulnerable to maybe a few million dangers? You are not alone; we all have this nagging feeling regarding what we will encounter next time.

The many scenarios we have stacked against us could be disheartening, not to mention terrifying. In such cases, anxiety becomes a constant companion when we factor in everything that can go wrong as we go through the daily motions of the day.

Reliance on Our God is Sufficient

Interestingly enough, God has talked at length about his range of protection for the people regardless of whomever they are. We can see this assertion in the scripture:

“But You, O Lord, are a shield for me, my glory and the One who lifts up my head.”

Psalm 3:3

What is the implication here when we see this line in the Psalm?

Interestingly, there are countless instances where God is a shield as we go along in life. He can act as a shield to thwart the enemy’s attack on us.

Consider David’s instance when he took on Goliath and eventually defeated him in a fair fight. David had the Lord on his side, but Goliath did not have the same protection despite being infinitely stronger than David.

We also see in the scripture further:

“The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims His handiwork. Day to day pours out speech, and night to night reveals knowledge.”

Psalm 19:1-2

The scripture abundantly talks about God’s protective nature.

Interestingly, we can notice God’s blessing in multiple ways than David could in his time. As is the case, if we simply look to the heavens, we will notice the Ozone layer, which protects humans from solar flares, toxic and lethal radiation and whatnot. His blessings are countless, yet we fail to see and appreciate them, mostly taking them for granted.

“And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. And God said, ‘Let there be light,’ and there was light.”

Genesis 1:2-3

We should understand that how Earth came to be is not a mere cosmic coincidence. God was well aware of the conditions that would help life thrive on this planet; thus, he fostered the conditions for the planet to become habitable. Hence, humans live without the fear nor the threat of cosmic discrepancies that often plague the rest of the universe.

God Protects us From Harm

There is no shortage of God’s protection over us. He protects us from different things that can cause harm to us in differing capacities. For instance, God protects us from curses, gossipers, slanders, fools, sheep’s clothing, and manipulators, and even much more than this.

We should understand God cannot see his fellow men in trouble and pain.

So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. “All who rage against you will surely be ashamed and disgraced; those who oppose you will be as nothing and perish. Though you search for your enemies, you will not find them. Those who wage war against you will be as nothing at all.”

Isaiah 41:10-12

God Protects from Temptations

We can see the scripture and notice that God leaves no stone unturned in showcasing his care and compassion for his men. He may use imagery that can confuse us and all. Yet upon closer inspection, it can give us great confidence and hope.

“3 he will certainly rescue you from the snare of the hunter
and from the destructive plague.
4 He will shelter you with his wings;
you will find safety under his wings.
His faithfulness is like a shield or a protective wall.
5 You need not fear the terrors of the night,
the arrow that flies by day,
6 the plague that stalks in the darkness,
or the disease that ravages at noon.”

Psalm 91:3-6

These verses are more than enough to understand the scale of protection God bestows on us as he cares for one and all and aspires to protect us.

Interestingly, these verses also point to God’s protection from dangers that are seldom visible to us. We are all prone to these dangers at one time or the other. Temptations are always there that shake us to the core in varying capacities.

Conclusion

Therefore, we should always be thankful to God and make it a point to remember the infinite blessings that he has bestowed upon us. Man has always been an ungrateful, thankless, and impatient being.

We often fail to see what God brings to the table and how much we owe it to him, for everything we have is due to him.

Unbeknownst to us, God plays a decisive role in protecting our lives and acting as a shield for us. So, come hell or high water, our God is with us through thick and thin.
